Hello,

anybody else seeing this?

With pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf and java-1.6.0_24 (build 1.6.0_24-b07) I get
the following error on trying to merge some pdf files on CentOS 5.5.

pdftk part1.pdf part2.pdf cat output file.pdftk

Unhandled Java Exception:
ExceptionConverter: java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: MD5
at java.security.MessageDigest.getInstance(libgcj.so.7rh)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfEncryption.createDocumentId(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfWriter.close(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfCopy.close(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfDocument.close(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.Document.close(pdftk)

Everything works fine if I downgrade pdftk to version
pdftk-1.41-1.el5.rf.
Thanks a lot!

Hello,

so, pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf works fine if java-1.4.2-gcj-compat is
installed. But the java-1.4.2-gcj-compat rpm is not a prerequisite for
installing the pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf rpm.

$ rpm -q pdftk --requires
libc.so.6
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.3)
libgcc_s.so.1
libgcc_s.so.1(GCC_3.0)
libgcj.so.7rh
libm.so.6
libstdc++.so.6
libstdc++.so.6(CXXABI_1.3)
libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4)
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1
rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
rtld(GNU_HASH)

What here is really missing by pdftk is gcj and gcjh.
Am I missing something here or should it be better to integrate the
java-1.4.2-gcj-compat dependency into the pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf rpm?

Olaf,

i've added a dependency on "jre-gcj", which i believe will be sufficient to pull in the requisite packages on each of our supported distributions. once pdftk-1.44-2 is built and pushed to the repo, would you mind testing it and letting me know whether it resolves the issue you're reporting?

thanks,
-steve

libstdc++.so.6(CXXABI_1.3)
libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4)
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1
rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
rtld(GNU_HASH)

What here is really missing by pdftk is gcj and gcjh.
Am I missing something here or should it be better to integrate the
java-1.4.2-gcj-compat dependency into the pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf rpm?

Hello,

anybody else seeing this?

With pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf and java-1.6.0_24 (build 1.6.0_24-b07) I get
the following error on trying to merge some pdf files on CentOS 5.5.

pdftk part1.pdf part2.pdf cat output file.pdftk

Unhandled Java Exception:
ExceptionConverter: java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: MD5
at java.security.MessageDigest.getInstance(libgcj.so.7rh)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfEncryption.createDocumentId(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfWriter.close(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfCopy.close(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfDocument.close(pdftk)
at com.lowagie.text.Document.close(pdftk)

Everything works fine if I downgrade pdftk to version
pdftk-1.41-1.el5.rf.
Thanks a lot!

Hello,

so, pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf works fine if java-1.4.2-gcj-compat is
installed. But the java-1.4.2-gcj-compat rpm is not a prerequisite for
installing the pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf rpm.

$ rpm -q pdftk --requires
libc.so.6
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.3)
libgcc_s.so.1
libgcc_s.so.1(GCC_3.0)
libgcj.so.7rh
libm.so.6
libstdc++.so.6
libstdc++.so.6(CXXABI_1.3)
libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4)
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1
rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
rtld(GNU_HASH)

What here is really missing by pdftk is gcj and gcjh.

java-1.4.2-gcj-compat dependency into the pdftk-1.44-1.el5.rf rpm?
