Discussion:
[users] Repoforge (fka RPMforge) lists have moved to lists.repoforge.org

Hi,

This mail is to inform you we moved the former RPMforge mailinglists to
its new home at 'lists.repoforge.org'. The 'lists.rpmforge.net' domain has
not yet migrated with it, but that should happen in the next 24 hours or
so, and is mostly for backward compatibility (so that the archives are
redirected to the new location).

You can manage your subscriptions through:

http://lists.repoforge.org/

and if you have filters set, please modify them to use the new
'lists.repoforge.org' domain.

There have been a few changes:

- The 'svn-commits' list has been renamed to 'commits' as we have moved
to using git recently.

- The 'suggest' list has been merged with the 'users' list as
there's little point in having a separate list for suggestions.
Subscribers of the 'suggest' list received a 'users' welcome message.

- And I plan to get rid of the 'tools' list in the future in favor of
separate lists, one for each tool.

More information on how to contribute to Repoforge and the various tools
in a future announcement. The aim is to open up the development process
and make it more transparent. We will keep you updated !

Kind regards,

Well done, Dag!

P.S. I'd just like to note that we are now giving preference to the
".org" domain, if you are still having filtering issues and are unsure
of what's going on, please make sure that you not only replaced
"rpmforge" with "repoforge", but also ".net" with ".org".

I would have prefered a .eu or .su domain!
Seriously now, the .net makes more sense (if there is even such a thing).

Good luck!

.com/.org/.net domains are all registered, the primarily one is going to
be .org, while the rest will be just redirects. Sorry, there was a
choice to make even though it might be arbitrary to a certain extent.

All is good now...

It was a little abrupt for me when the first indication that something
had changed came in the form of a "You have been removed from the....
list".

That email came from user-bounces. It was a little alarming.

Then I noticed an email informing me of the domain change.

A little less abrubt would have been preferable ;)

But all is good now.

Hahah - I know what you mean! I did a swapover of mail servers last
night to a new postfix / virtual mail / mysql user accounts etc with
spamassassin / procmail and the first thing I saw this morning when I
checked my email was the "You have been removed" email. My first thought
was "AH! My mail has been bouncing overnight!"

Then I saw the explanation - but I still went through the new mail
system with a fine tooth comb ;)

Yeah, I misinterpreted the sync_members command and hadn't even expected
that it would send out mails by default. Sorry for that.
