Discussion:
[users] perl-Archive-Tar dependency confusion

RHEL is now shipping perl-Archive-Tar.noarch 1:1.39.1-1.el5_5.2 from
RHN. Note the 1 in the epoch field.

The rpmforge extras repo has perl-Archive-Tar.noarch 0:1.56-1.el5.rfx

Because of the epoch, the RHN one is seen as newer, and tries to replace
it, but fails every time (killing the update process with it) because of
a bunch of things that require 1.44 or newer as a dependency.

Should the epoch be bumped to match on the one in rpmforge?

The epoch is fixed for perl-Archive-Tar, but installing
perl-Module-Install from rpmforge requires perl-Archive-Tar >= 1.44.
The only version which satisfies this is in extras because 1.39 is in
the regular rpmforge repo. Should something be bumped up or down to a
different repo? Or is it normal that cross-repo dependencies will
exist?
