I was wondering if there is any chance of getting the ImageMagick
package added with a recent version? I've been lookign around and the
newest version I can find is 6.2.8 in centos-updates repo. I know it's
a very sucky package as the list of dependencies is insane, but I
would really like to see it in a repo somewhere.

kind regards and many thanks for all the hard work you put into
maintaining RPMForge, it saves my behind on a regular basis :)

There's really little chance of adding something that replaces a base
package unless there's a really good reason for it. What's yours?

I actually built an rpm for a new ImageMagick on a CentOS 4.x box a
while back (maybe 4.4, it was a while back) for image scanning on mail
servers. The list of dependencies that needed to be updated was
pretty large. In the end, the update to 4.5 or 4.6 broke it and I
never went back and did it again, it was just too much work for such
little gain.

Have you considered if maybe graphics magick is an alternative ? It's a
fork of IM that can be installed in parallel to IM, and has quite
current packages available from EPEL:

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/x86_64/repoview/GraphicsMagick.html
